Website redesign for the University of Illinois Chicago

As the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) initiated the migration of all university websites to WordPress, Caleb was asked to lead the Sociology department’s website migration. The site needed a complete overhaul—visual design, copy, content hierarchy, and information architecture—to meet the department’s goals and provide a positive user experience.

Caleb collaborated with stakeholders in the department to redesign the website for clarity and usability. The work included:

  • New page designs
  • New and revised copy that supports scanning
  • New information architecture organized by audience and topic

  • Better UX design and copywriting makes it easier for users to scan and quickly find relevant information
  • New information architecture strikes a balance of findability and discoverability
